| Google Rocks Our World Again
- Part 1 of 3
Google has changed the way your website is found on the web.
Where Google goes, we must go . . .
You've probably already heard Google recently made a multitude of changes that will have a huge impact on SEO Internet marketing strategies.
The most significant areas are:
1) Personalized Search: 'SEO Page Rank Factor' Now Obsolete
2) Social Media: Taking a Bite Out of the Marketing Pie
3) Mobile Browsing: Get on Board or Be Left Behind
Because there is a lot of new information on these three important SEO marketing topics, we are breaking them up into three separate newsletter articles. This article on Personalized Search is one of three.
Personalized Search: Page Rank Factor Now Obsolete
SEO Page Rank Factor gone the way of the dinosaur.
What 'was' Page Rank Factor? Why is it not important anymore?
In the not-so-distant past, how 'high' your website 'ranked' in Google's results was a very important measuring tool. You could search with your keyword phrase on your computer and someone else could search with same keyword phrase on their computer and searches would return similar page ranking results. Those days are gone.
Google has implemented 'Personalized Search' for everyone who uses Google to search the Internet. This completely changes how search results are delivered to you.
Now, any time you search, Google is watching the way you search and returning results according to what you search for. For example, if you visit your company website often, Google 'decides' you like that website and will bring it up high in the search results for you on your computer, therefore giving you a false 'Page Rank' reading. So, on your computer you will come up on the first couple of pages in Google using your keyword search phrase, but a stranger who doesn't even know about your company yet, using the same keyword search phrase you used, even in the same city will get completely different search results. Sometimes you can see different search results for the same keyword phrase, on two different computers in the same location!
Bottom line: forget about 'SEO Page Rank' - it's obsolete.
In addition to other SEO Internet marketing strategies, the focus must be on higher, relevant website traffic and conversions of website visitors to sales.
